if anyone is interested : 
Steps I took to install Skype 4.2.0.11 to Puppy 4.3.1

download and installed :

1) libc6_2.11.2.0_i386.deb
2) libstdc++6_4.4.5-8_i386.deb
3) skype-4.2.0.1.1-lucid.pet

create a symlink in /usr/lib named libaudio.so.2 linked to libaudiofile.so.0.0.2
started from menu>internet>skype.
It seemed to break pnethood so I installed clarf_pnethhood-0.6.7.pet 
and the samba shares worked again.

I am in puppy 4.3.2. No need to edit .Skype/shared.xml. Using qt 4.7.1, 
glibc and libstdc upgrade. Launch skype43 (without pulseaudio): 
set autologin and no update control (in Advanced Options). Quit skype43.
Launch skype42. 
It is working. You can quit skype42 how you want and start it again.
The same procedure works in slacko. I think it's a general workaround.
